In 1947 a few dedicated men agreed that there should be an Orthodox congregation in Jacksonville. Private homes were used to conduct services until a vacated former Boys Home was purchased and used as a synagogue. This was the beginning of Etz Chaim.

Today, maintaining the tradition and spirit on which Etz Chaim was founded, the shul is dedicated to providing a spiritual setting for the growing Jacksonville Jewish population. We are committed to outreach, providing classes and programs to our congregants as well as providing a home for those who are searching for greater depth in Judaism. We pride ourselves in our commitment to halacha and upholding the mitzvot and customs of a tradition that was given to us by G-d at Sinai.
