DAF YOMI JAX

BY: Rabbi Aharon Yosef Green

"Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night stays these couriers from the swift completion of their appointed rounds". In addition to being the slogan of the United States Postal Service, this comment appropriately describes the Jacksonville Daf Yomi group.

The dedication and commitment of the group is truly inspiring. Each day, regardless of their busy schedules and personal commitments, participants gather to study a new page of the Talmud, continuing a tradition that has been alive since 1923.

This past year, 5784, was another testament to their unwavering devotion to Torah study. Under the guidance of Rabbi Fisch on weekdays and Rabbi Green on weekends, the group successfully completed tractates Kiddushin, Bava Kama, and Bava Metzia. They are now delving into Bava Basra, the longest tractate in the Talmud. This year also marks the 20th year of the Daf Yomi group of Jacksonville!

The Daf Yomi group not only engages in rigorous study but also celebrates their accomplishments together. They held communal celebrations for each tractate completed and a special gala Shabbos lunch to mark the completion of Seder Nashim, fostering both learning and camaraderie within the community.

We pray that Hashem gives the group the strength to make 5785 another remarkable year of Daf Yomi study!
