Rabbi Yaakov Fisch

Senior Rabbi

Rabbi Yaakov Fisch who is originally from Toronto, began serving as Senior Rabbi at Etz Chaim Synagogue in 2010. He is an alumnus of Yeshivas Mir in Jerusalem and the Ohr Lagolah Leadership Institute. Rabbi Fisch received his Rabbinic Ordination in 2004 from Rav Zalman Nechemia Goldberg in Jerusalem. He is also a certified teacher from the Israeli Ministry of Education as well as a Certified Marriage Counselor from Yeshiva University.

He previously served as our Youth Rabbi for 6 years in which he made his mark with the start of high quality  educational and social programming that was enriching for kids of all ages. Rabbi Fisch’s dynamic leadership as Senior Rabbi has resulted in the growth of membership Etz Chaim. His down to earth style coupled with his warmth and love for all Jews has contributed to the increased vibrancy of our beloved shul.

Rabbi Fisch has the good fortune of being married to Henny. They have five children: Rachelli, Tammy, Yehoshua, Shalom and Rina. In his spare time Rabbi Fisch enjoys spending time with his family, going jogging and occasionally being a sushi chef!

Rabbi Avi Feigenbaum

Director of Education

Rabbi Avi Feigenbaum, originally from Toronto, Canada, moved to Jacksonville with his wife Devorah and beautiful daughters in August 2013. He previously served as a member of the Kansas City Community Kollel for two years where he spearheaded many outreach activities. He is an alumnus of Ner L'elef Center For Jewish Leadership Training and Community Outreach and the Mirrer Yeshiva in Jerusalem.

In Jerusalem, he was employed as a “big brother" to young men with different physical, emotional, and social disabilities. He was also engaged in a tutoring program that was based on the Hebrew University Campus thereby helping students increase their knowledge of various Jewish subjects.

As our education director Rabbi Feigenbaum primarily focuses on creating learning opportunities for Jewish education outside synagogue walls. These programs include home study groups, executive lunch and learns and informal discussions at local coffee shops.

In his spare time Rabbi Feigenbaum enjoys a hiking, playing sports, and of course spending time with his growing family – his vibrant and personable wife Devorah, and his 4 adorable daughters, Batsheva, Miri, Rena and Ahuva Sara. Rabbi Avi Feigenbaum is a warm, engaging and personable individual that can connect to all Jews regardless of their affiliation and we are excited that he has joined our team.
